No, MiDAS is a minibus awareness course, whereas D1 is a driving test for those wishing to driver minibuses with a GVW over 3.5 tonnes.

Under a Section 19 Permit regular training is required for all minibus drivers and MiDAS is a nationally recognised scheme.
MiDAS training takes a day and is a mix of classroom based and practical driving training.
If you want driver minibuses with a GVW over 3.5 tonnes you need D1 entitlement – if you don’t already have it on your licence (issued before 1stJan 1997) you will need to take the test.
