Can an executor of a Will be a beneficiary?

It is a common misconception that an executor cannot also be a beneficiary. In reality, beneficiaries to a Will are often also named as executors and this is perfectly acceptable. It is important to note, however, that beneficiaries and their spouses/civil partners cannot be witnesses to a Will.
